CS 3733 Operating Systems, Fall 2003 Midterm Exam Comments
Grade Distribution:
- 90-100: 2
- 80-89: 10
- 70-79: 13
- 60-69: 8
- 50-59: 8
- below 50: 7
- Problem 1 was like the one from the notes on Chapter 3.
- Problem 2: Note that each process has its own file descriptor table.
- Problem 3: Point values for the 5 parts were 4, 6, 5, 1, and 4.
For part b) you had to list at least 6 of the items
correctly to get full credit
Note that the inode for the root directory is in memory but the root
directory is not.
- Problem 4: Part a) was worth 10 points and part b) was 5 points.
For part a) you need to say something about the operations being
atomic.
For part b) you had to say something about initialization.
- Problem 5: Everyone should have gotten this one correct as it was just
like a problem from class and done in recitation 4.
- Problem 6 was supposed to be easy.
