90-100: 5
80-89: 3
70-79: 4
60-69: 3
below 60: 3
On the front of your exam paper, the grade for the retake is in black under
the original grade in red.
It you got full credit on a problem it was not regraded.
Otherwise, a number on black or an X appears near the top of each problem
on the original exam. The blank grade is your new score. It will always be
greater than the original score in red. An X indicates that no additional
points were awarded.
If you got below a 70 on the retake you should consider dropping the course. If you got below 70 and are not planning to drop the course, you should come and see me with your exam.
Your final grade for this exam will be a weighted average of the original and the retake, with the original counting twice as much.
To calculate this grade, take two-thirds of your original grade plus one-third of the retake grade, and round. These revised grades will eventually be entered into WebCT.
Keep in mind that your original grade is an indication of your ability to complete this course successfully. Unless you change your study habits, the original grade is an indicator of how you will do on the second exam and on the final.
